I'm trying to SSH into it now and it doesn't appear to be online. I set the system to fire up at 5:30 this evening via BIOS. I thought it was always from the router (which in my case, I'm not sure if it's supported) I assume WOL 5:45 PM and backup at 6:00 PM? How can you handle WOL like that? I wasn't aware other systems could do WOL. The only question I have about WOL is how would I handle the timing? If I have WOL and the backup set for 6:00 PM that of course wouldn't work because the system wouldn't be up yet. no other drives, video cards, etc.ĮDIT - what if I just set up a cron job to run daily at a specified time for "sudo poweroff" and let the computer's BIOS handle the power-on in the evening? Nonetheless, I'd still like to find a way to kick this guy on at a specific time. Nice simple way to ensure the gizmo turns back on if you don't have a UPS sitting around. Sure enough, if the computer is on and I cut the power, then plug it back in, it turns right on. Stay off was the default, however there was an option for Power On. Yeah, I just went into the BIOS on this system and there's a section under Power listed as "Power After Failure" with a few options.

Enterprise Mode is required to use Wake On LAN in the Offline Policy.Never heard of that. This can be accomplished via the Offline Policy in Options > Preferences > Scanning > Send Wake-on-LAN and attempt scan. You can have PDQ Inventory automatically send a Wake on LAN to an offline system before a PDQ Inventory scan is initiated. You can initiate Wake On LAN by selecting Tools > Wake or by using the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+W.

If a computer has multiple MAC addresses in the PDQ Inventory database, PDQ Inventory will attempt the Wake On LAN against each MAC address. PDQ Inventory will automatically use the MAC and IP addresses stored in the PDQ Inventory database. In order to successfully wake up a computer the MAC Address and the current IP Address of the target computer is required. Please verify that these ports are opened to allow a "Directed Broadcast". The standard Wake On LAN port these days is Port 9. If PDQ Inventory doesn't have the correct IP Address then you may wake up the wrong system.

This should increase the success rates for those environments where Wake On LAN broadcasts (Directed or otherwise) are blocked by your routers. A command will be sent to that last known computer to wake up the target. Enterprise mode will also attempt to contact a computer in the last known subnet of the target you are waking up. In PDQ Inventory 6 we introduced an additional step to achieve higher success rates with Wake On LAN.We send a Directed UDP packet to the IP Address of the target through Ports 7.We also send a Directed UDP packet to the subnet of the target on Ports 9, 1220.Therefore this packet is generally useful to wake up machines on the same subnet. The General Broadcast packet is USUALLY blocked by a company's routers.We send a "General Broadcast" UDP packet to Ports 9, 1220.
